Today your rct’s will have their first dental exam. One of the primary issues the Navel Dentist will look at for each and every Rct is wisdom teeth. They will only extract teeth they deem will be and or cause an issue in the future. Better to have those “problem” teeth extracted in a controlled environment. Rcts could possibly need assistance down the road if they didn’t schedule dental during training, and then there could be bigger issues. This will be the first of many scheduled dental days while they are there for 13 weeks. Some rct’s will need more then one visit, and not all rct’s could possibly have surgery on the same day.

USMC HISTORY 1898-1940 –

This period will cover the Spanish-American War to the beginning of World War II.

USMC Mission/Org –

Since its creation in 1775, the Corps’ role has expanded significantly. The Marines have a unique mission statement, and, alone among the branches of the U.S. armed forces, “shall, at any time, be liable to do duty in the forts and garrisons of the United States, on the seacoast, or any other duty on shore, as the President, at his discretion, shall direct.” In this special capacity, charged with carrying out duties given to them directly by the President of the United States, the Marine Corps serves as an all-purpose, fast-response task force, capable of quick action in areas requiring emergency intervention.

The United States Marine Corps is organized within the Department of the Navy, which is led by the Secretary of the Navy (SECNAV). The most senior Marine officer is the Commandant of the Marine Corps, responsible for organizing, recruiting, training, and equipping the Marine Corps so that it is ready for operation under the command of the Unified Combatant Commanders.

The Marine Corps is organized into four principal subdivisions: Headquarters Marine Corps, the Operating Forces, the Supporting Establishment, and the Marine Forces Reserve. The Operating Forces are further subdivided into three categories: Marine forces assigned to Unified Combatant Commands, Marine Corps Security Forces guarding naval installations, and Marine Security Guard detachments at American embassies.

Under the “Forces for Unified Commands” memo, Marine forces are assigned to each of the regional unified combatant commands at the discretion of the Secretary of Defense and with the approval of the President. Since 1991, the Marine Corps has maintained component headquarters at each of the regional unified combatant commands.

Honor, courage and commitment, the core values of the Marines, define how every Marine in the Corps thinks, acts and fights. Throughout the austere battlefields of the 21st Century, every Marine in the Corps must be confident they can rely on each other to think, act and lead. In the chaos of battle, character matters.
